Geeanduth Gopee’s ‘Nine Wonderful Journeys of Life’

In a packed auditorium of the Alliance Francaise, with a fitting ambience, the audience listened and watched a well-organised launching event for a new book, held on Wednesday 8 October 14.

The author of the new book, Mr Geeanduth Gopee, was delighted to  share his thoughts and explained the purpose and contents of his book ‘Nine Wonderful Journeys of Life’.

The audience comprised mainly young people and students from the Mauritian student community living in Delhi and nearby states and relatives and friends from Europe and Mauritius.

A large group of students from the School of Planning and Architecture of Delhi attended and met the author personally. One of their classmates is in fact a student at the SPA studying architecture in the third year.

Mr Joyker Nayeck, Deputy High Commissioner of the Mauritius High Commission based in Delhi, was the Guest of Honour. He expressed his satisfaction and pride for being associated with the event. He was impressed by the depth of knowledge and advice covered in the book, especially the story of Christina and Mangal.

Mr Geeanduth Gopee, on the strength of his background as management consultant and a top officer in Mauritius Civil Service, revealed how he spends weekend and nights,  involved in his passion of reading, researching and writing. His first book, ‘Soldiers of Humanity’, was also published in Delhi in 2012 by the same publisher. He gave details about the nine journeys covered in his book.

Based on the simple concept that life is journey, his book mentions of the joys and tribulations of a typical human being in the various stages of his life. He gave some hints on how a person become a super-achiever and lead a stress-free life. He quoted from his book: “Every human being is a shining star.” He has to make the most of his life by balancing the inbound and the outbound journeys.

The publisher of the book, Mr Anil Varma, Director of star Publications Ltd explained that he has been working since long with several Mauritian authors in both English and Hindi. He revealed that the subject matter of the book was a different and new business avenue for him. His father, Mr Amar Varma seized the opportunity to give his views on the book.

An Appeal

Dear Reader

65 years ago Mauritius Times was founded with a resolve to fight for justice and fairness and the advancement of the public good. It has never deviated from this principle no matter how daunting the challenges and how costly the price it has had to pay at different times of our history.

With print journalism struggling to keep afloat due to falling advertising revenues and the wide availability of free sources of information, it is crucially important for the Mauritius Times to survive and prosper. We can only continue doing it with the support of our readers.

The best way you can support our efforts is to take a subscription or by making a recurring donation through a Standing Order to our non-profit Foundation.
